Why a PDF opens sideways in the first place
Most upside-down and sideways PDFs come from a scanner or a phone. A sheet-fed scanner turns whatever you put in the tray into landscape pages, a phone camera stores its own idea of which way up the photo was, and a document that mixes portrait letters with landscape spreadsheets ends up with pages pointing in two directions. None of that is damage — every PDF page carries a rotation value, and it is simply set to the wrong number.
Rotating the file, not just the view
Almost every PDF reader has a rotate button, and almost none of them save the result. Those buttons change how the page is displayed in that window and nothing more, which is why the file looks fine on your screen and sideways in the recipient’s email. This tool edits the rotation stored inside the document and hands you a new file, so the page is genuinely upright wherever it is opened or printed.
What rotating does not change
The page content is untouched. Selectable text stays selectable, embedded fonts stay embedded, images keep their original resolution and the page order is exactly as it was. Because nothing is rasterised or re-compressed, the downloaded file is within a few bytes of the size you started with — if you need the pages in a different order or want to drop some of them, use Organize PDF instead.

Is this PDF rotator really free?+
Yes. There is no account, no trial, no page limit and no watermark on the file you download. The tool is supported by unobtrusive advertising on the page.
Are my files uploaded to a server?+
No. The pages are drawn and rotated inside your browser using JavaScript, so the PDF never leaves your computer. You can check this yourself by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads — the tool still works.
What is the difference between rotating a PDF in a reader and rotating it here?+
Rotating in Acrobat's view menu, Preview or a browser's PDF viewer only turns the picture on your screen. Close the file and it is sideways again, and anyone you send it to still sees it sideways. This tool changes the page's own rotation value inside the document and saves it, so the fix travels with the file and survives printing, emailing and re-opening.
Will rotating reduce the quality of my PDF?+
No. Nothing is re-drawn or re-compressed. Each page keeps its original text, fonts and images — only the page's orientation flag changes, so the file size stays roughly the same and text stays selectable and searchable.
Can I rotate only some of the pages?+
Yes. Each thumbnail has its own left and right buttons, so you can turn a single scanned page while leaving the rest alone. Pages already rotated by the scanner are handled correctly — the tool reads each page's existing angle and adds your turn to it rather than assuming every page starts upright.
Is there anything this tool cannot do?+
Two things. A PDF that asks for a password to open cannot be read by the browser at all, so remove the password first. And because every page is drawn as a preview image before you can click it, a document of several hundred pages takes a while to open and uses a fair amount of memory, especially on a phone.
